6What is henna?
Henna also known as Lawsonia Inermis is a paste made from the leaves of the ‘henna plant’. The plant is mainly found in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. This plant grows best in hot weather with minimum moisture. The leaves contain a red dye called ‘Lawsone’, which is what stains the skin. The leaves are crushed into fine powder; the powder is then sifted multiple times, and then mixed with a variety of ingredients: lemon juice, sugar, essential oils, etc. to create a smooth creamy paste. This paste is then put into an applicator (a henna cone) for the artist to create their piece of art.
7Where Is Henna applied?
Henna is traditionally placed on the hands, feet, and shins. However, you can apply henna just about anywhere you want. The lower back, abdomen, shoulders, arms, calves, and back of neck are great locations. Try to stay away from hairy areas though, often times the henna won't make it to the skin and it hurts when removing the paste.

10How does it work?
Henna dyes the upper layers of your skin using completely natural processes. Henna contains the lawsome molecule, which dyes organic matter like hair, skin, fingernails, and natural fibers. It takes time for the lawsome to bind with cells, so the henna paste must stay moist and in contact with the skin for as long as possible. Heat also makes the dye stain a darker, deeper color.
11Can we cover grey hair with herbal hair colors?
Only the Lawsonia inermis or the so called red henna covers gray hair. Lawsonia gives light blonde or grey hair a bright natural reddish shade with hints of orange and natural gorgeous red tones on dark hair.
